DEXTER, Mo. — Paul McAnelly, 96, died Sept. 3, 2019, at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter.
Born Feb. 28, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Fred and Ella Lowery McAnelly, he was a former custodian at Sikeston Senior High School in Sikeston and a farmer for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and a former resident of the Oran area.
On Dec. 2, 1948, he married Betty Jewel Lockhart, who preceded him in death on Nov. 19, 2008.
Survivors include: one son, Steve McAnelly (Connie) of Jackson; two daughters, Linda Northington of Dexter, and Patsy McAnelly of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Geneva Statler of Bloomfield; and six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Rosie Morse, Bernice Eaves and Pauline Bone Gaddy.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Friday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.
Graveside service will then be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Forest Hills Cemetery at Morley. Burial will follow.
