The Old Broads Plus One had officially RETIRED after last year and had NO intention of building any more floats. “We got drawn out of retirement for, at least, this year. Will we ever build another float? We don't know. We'll just have to wait and see,” said Sheila Brewer Keene, one of the Old Broads. This year's float was much smaller and much simpler than we were used to building. We were disappointed in ourselves. I don't know how many times, one of us said, "It is what it is." During the judging, we really did NOT expect to place. When The Old Broads Plus One was announced as the FIRST PLACE WINNERS, we were shocked and at a loss for words,” she added.
