MINER, Mo. — Charles E. Dewitt, 86, died Oct. 29, 2019, at his home in Miner.   Born May 27, 1933, in Matthews, son of the late Hollis E. and Effie Marie (Ratliff) Dewitt, he was a lifelong resident of this area and a member of Shady Acres Church of Christ and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been the manager of E.C. Robinson Lumber Co. and had worked at Barton Lumber Co. in Sikeston; he then worked at Barton Salvage Stores in Paris, Texas, and Tyler, Texas, until his retirement. 

On Aug. 18, 1956, in Hernando, Miss., he married Nancy Ellen Watson, who preceded him in death on March 25, 2001. He then married Lillian Pixley Kelton, on Nov. 24, 2002, in Sikeston, and she survives.

Other survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Troy Glaus of Chaffee; two sisters, Joann Matthews of Sikeston and Mickey Rudisill of Morehouse; two stepchildren, Regina Winders of South Port, N.C., and David Kelton of Sikeston; one grandson, Corey Bowles of Chaffee; and three stepgrandsons and two great-stepgrandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Keith Olbricht, minister of Shady Acres Church of Christ, and the Rev. Mitchell Jackson, pastor of Miner Baptist Church, officiating. 

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be: Corey Bowles, Marshall Glaus, Alex Glaus, Brad Dewitt, Jason Rudisill and Mark Laden.
