NEW MADRID, Mo. — Chester “Chet” Riley passed away Oct. 28, 2019, at his home in New Madrid at the age of 87 years.
Born July 14, 1932, in Karnak, Ill., son of the late James and Georgia Tapley Riley, he moved to Missouri in 1965 and was employed for many years by Ralph Anderson Lumber Co. and Cairo Dry Kiln as an, in his own words, Board Flopper.
On May 21, 1977, he was married to Joyce Welshans Riley, and she preceded him in death on April 23, 2004.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Orphia Corzine and Mary Goines; and one brother, Jim Riley.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mona Riley Hollenbeck of Columbia and Becky and John Anderson of Kaiser; one stepson, Clay and Luanne Riley of Jackson; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgrandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 pm. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.
Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid is in charge of arrangements.
