MINER, Mo. — The City of Miner will have two issues on the ballot in Tuesday’s election, including how the police chief is chosen.
Currently the Miner Police Chief is voted on by the citizens of Miner. That was recently an issue when former police chief Chris Griggs was impeached by the Board of Alderman in March. That impeachment was recently upheld by a judge on appeal.
Now voters will decide whether to keep the power of electing the police chief or give it up. Proposition B, if passed, would give the mayor the power to appoint the police chief with consent and majority vote of the Board of Alderman.
The second issue on the ballot is a city sales tax.
Proposition A is a proposed city sales tax of one-half percent for the funding of the police department, city administration and general operating costs of the city.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
