Virginia Hampton
BLOOMFIELD, Mo. — Virginia Lee Hampton, 82, died Nov. 20, 2019, at the Bloomfield Nursing Center in Bloomfield.
Born Dec. 5, 1936, in Bloomfield, daughter of the late Lloyd and Ruth Mae Bennett Cox, she moved to Michigan where she lived for many years before returning to Bloomfield. She had worked as a secretary in Michigan, working for attorneys and at the Ford Motor Co. She had served as the Librarian at the Bloomfield Public Library.
On May 20, 1978, in Trenton, Mich., she married William Arthur Hampton, who preceded her in death on June 29, 1995.
Survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Donald Fadden of Lincoln Park, Mich.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Jess Johnston of Michigan, Mark and Rosy Johnston of Virginia and Larry and Libby Johnston of Ohio; three brothers, Don, Dennis and Charles Cox of Michigan; and nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Johnston, one brother, Leon Cox and a sister in infancy.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Steve Tippen of Bloomfield officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hill Cemetery near Bloomfield.
