POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. — Stuart Douglas Jantz, 70, died Dec. 16, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Aug. 31, 1949, in Baraboo, Wis., son of Margaret (Kane) Jantz and the late Harry Jantz, he grew up on the family farm in Fairfield, Wis. Following graduation from Baraboo High School in 1967, he attended college at UW-Black River before enlisting in the Army. After three years of service, including a tour of Vietnam, he returned to Baraboo and worked for several years in the private sector before returning to military service. He was a highly decorated noncommissioned Army officer with a distinguished 26-year career. He retired with the rank of sergeant major.
His wife, Susan Brands Jantz, survives of the home.
In addition to his mother and wife, survivors include one son, Kevin; stepchildren, Jason and Leslie; three sisters, Carolynn Koberstein, Gail Barnes and Susan Schults; and two grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Kevin.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Dec. 19 at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville.
Burial followed in the Portageville Cemetery.
