Gayle Meritt

ESSEX, Mo. — Gayle Meritt, 81, died Dec. 22, 2019, at her home in Essex.

Born March 26, 1938, in rural Bernie, daughter of the late Clarence Ott and Pearl Kifer Ott, she was a member of the Olive Branch General Baptist Church and a homemaker.

On July 25, 1958, in Circle City, she married Tom Meritt, who survives of the home in Essex.

In addition to her husband, survivors include: one son, Darin Meritt of Dexter; and one granddaughter, Victoria Meritt.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine Norman.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chalk Bluff Cemetery with the Rev. Dudley Hamilton officiating.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
