Carlos Nelson
SIKESTON, Mo. — Carlos Nelson, 56, passed away Dec. 16, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Sept. 2, 1963, in Little Rock, Arkansas, son of the late Beatrice Williams and Richard Nelson, he graduated from Senath-Hornersville High School class of 1981.
Carlos had been a resident of Sikeston for the last eight years. He was engaged to Tonya Mitchell. They were to marry on April 18, 2020.
Carlos was devoted to his family, friends, church and his music. He was a concert promoter, promoting shows all over the world. Carlos brought many shows to the Bootheel area, including people like David and Tamela Mann, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Keith Sweat, Dottie Peoples, Bill Engvall, The Legendary Temptations and 1 Streetball. He also have worked with other artists as well including Prince, Janet Jackson and Toby Keith.
Carlos had been in the music business for over 35 years. He sang background for Surface, Dress Code, Universal Music Group and several Motown groups.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Elnora Hudson, Jesse Nelson, Richard Nelson, Jr., Earlene Nelson, James Nelson, Darrin Nelson and Tommie (John) Isom.
He leaves to cherish his fun memories: Tonya Mitchell (fiancee), one daughter, Raquel Nelson-Henson of Houston, Texas; two stepchildren, Tyianna (Dorion) Davis and Tyra Bonner; two grandchildren, Dorion Jr. and Brooklyn Davis; one sister, Carol Nelson of Kennett; and six brothers, Tollie Jones of Garner, N.C., Robert (Wilmer) Nelson of Denver, Colo.; Noble (Pat) Nelson of Braggs City, JW (Frances) Nelson of Steele and LW (Francine) Nelson of Vandallstown, Md.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time at noon Friday, Dec. 27 at Green Memorial COGIC in Sikeston with Ronald Pulley Sr., pastor, officiating.
