SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Dennis Ryan Butler, 70, died Jan. 28, 2020, at his home in San Antonio.
Born Oct. 28, 1949, at Cairo, Ill., to the late J.B. and Mea Lou Carr Butler of Charleston, he graduated from Charleston High School in 1968. He enlisted in the US Navy and received an honorable discharge on Sept. 8, 1970, returning to Charleston before moving to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1974. He also lived in El Paso, Texas, and Poplar Bluff, Mo., before relocating to San Antonio where he has lived past five years. He had worked in the retail industry.
Survivors include: daughters, Shanna Lee Hanna of San Antonio and Brandey Lynne Ferranti of Hoboken, N.J.; two sisters, Christy White of San Antonio and Cathy Brown of Nixa, Mo.; four brothers, Scott Butler of Spring Hill, Tenn., Kevin Butler of Columbia, S.C., Kelly Butler of Bertrand, Mo., and Shannon Butler of Benton, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Butler.
Burial with military honors will be at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
