David Monroe
SIKESTON —David Ray Monroe, 68, died March 15, 2020, at his home in Sikeston.
Born Dec. 14, 1951, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, son of the late Ed Monroe and Lola Hollis Monroe, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a paratrooper and had worked as a lineman for Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities for over 30 years before retiring. He was a member of Miner Baptist Church, the Sikeston Masonic Lodge 310, Moolah Temple, SEMO Shrine Club and IBEW.
He was married to Diana Winstead Monroe; she survives of the home in Sikeston.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dustin Wayne Monroe of O'Fallon, Missouri, and Matthew David Monroe of Benton, Kentucky; three daughters, Jennifer Kay Ludditt-Monroe of Fenton, Missouri, Molly Davis Jewell of Natural Dam, Arkansas, and Clarissa Lynn Earley of Paducah, Kentucky; one sister, Imogene Hogue of Dyersburg, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Joshua Heath Monroe.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Larry Tucker will officiate.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
Pallbearers will be: Matthew David Monroe, Dustin Wayne Monroe, Billy Littleton, Bobby Stinnet, Eric Lambert and Mark Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Winstead and Jimmy Cowger.
