Dewey Hagar
GREENWOOD, Miss. — Dewey Chester Hagar, 93, of Greenwood, formerly of Morley, Missouri, died Friday, March 20, 2020, at the Riverview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenwood.
He was born to Thomas Newton and Lydia Davidson Hagar Dec. 9, 1926. He married Sadie Goff in May 1950.
Dewey was a lifelong farmer and was a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He grew up near Doniphan, Missouri, and moved to Morley in 1944. He was ordained as a deacon in the Baptist faith in Benton, Missouri, then later served as a deacon at Edwards Baptist Church in Mississippi.
He and Sadie had two sons, Richard Dewey (Mona) Hagar of Hollandale, Mississippi, and Randall Thomas (Vicky) Hagar of Wake Village, Texas; three grandchildren, Josh, Matthew and Rachel Hagar; and a host of family and friends. Dewey was very proud of his sons and daughters-in-law and prized his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Ethel Dalton, Annabel Hagar, Lola Mae Holland and Gene Holland; and three brothers, Raymond, Roy and Kenneth Hagar.
Private services with full military honors were held at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton was in charge of arrangements.
