Sikeston man arrested after Saturday shooting
SIKESTON — A Sikeston man is in custody after a shooting Saturday evening.
According to a news release from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, around 6:35 p.m. Saturday, Sikeston DPS received a report of shots fired near Ruth and Branum Street. A 35-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right arm reported to the hospital a short time later.
The release stated detectives learned that an initial verbal altercation started in the parking lot of West Side Liquor and soon turned violent when one or more subjects started shooting at the other parties involved.
Cameron Melton Malone Jr. was later arrested and charged with first degree assault, unlawful use of a firearm and UUW. Malone is being held on a no bond warrant.
