Two suspects wanted for an attempted murder in Mississippi arrested near Charleston

CHARLESTON, Mo. – An alert Charleston police officer detained two people wanted in an attempted murder case in Mississippi after recognizing the suspect vehicle Saturday in Mississippi County.

According to Charleston Department of Public Safety Chief Robert Hearnes, on Saturday, an officer with the Charleston Department of Public Safety overheard radio traffic giving a vehicle description of the attempted murder suspects from Mississippi. The officer saw the vehicle and stopped it at the 11-mile marker on Interstate 57, Hearnes said.

Frederick Sims, 29, and Lateisha Sims, 27, of Indianapolis, Indiana, were taken into custody on attempted murder warrants. The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted in the arrest.

Both suspects were placed in jail and later turned over to the Southhaven, Mississippi, Police Department, Hearnes said.
