UPDATED NUMBERS: Scott County currently has 63 cases with 38 of those active

SIKESTON — A second person has died in Scott County in relation to the COVID-19 virus.

“We are sad to report another death in Scott County. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those affected by COVID-19,” said a post Monday afternoon on the Scott County Health Department’s Facebook page.

As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, the Scott County Health Department reports 63 positive cases with 38 of those being active. Twenty-three have recovered.

Of the positive cases in Scott County, 28 are over the age of 60 and 19 are between the ages of 20-39. Forty of the positive cases have been female with 36 African American.

Statewide, there were 26 additional deaths on Tuesday and 132 more positive cases. According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Missouri has 7,303 positive COVID-19 cases with 314 deaths. Of those 314 deaths, 276 have been individuals over the age of 60.

Locally, Pemiscot County saw an increase of two from Monday’s report with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The Pemiscot County Health Center announced 21 confirmed positive cases in Pemiscot County on Tuesday. There are currently 11 active cases in Pemiscot County with nine recovered and one death.

New Madrid County is still with nine positive cases and just one active while Mississippi County has 23 positive cases, most of those coming from the Southeast Correctional Center in Charleston where 23 inmates and three employees have tested positive according to the Missouri Department of Corrections.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center released they have 19 cases with 15 recovered and only four active.

Dunklin County reports 20 cases with only five active cases. Thirteen people have recovered and there have been two deaths. The Dunklin County Health Department is also offering free COVID-19 testing for people in Dunklin County. For testing and screening call 573-752-0051.
