SIKESTON — Loretta Mae “Lori” Herbert, 81, died May 7, 2020, at Sikeston Convalescent Center, due to the effects of COVID-19.

Born Nov. 29, 1938, in Long Beach, California, daughter of the late Lincoln Darwin Eddenfield and Dorothy May Bone, she had lived 35 years in Phoenix, Arizona. She worked for many years as a “singing bartender” and spent her last working years as a balloon chaser for her husband who piloted hot air balloons. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In 1980, she married Charles James “Chuck” Herbert Sr., who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Lynn Herbert Berry.

Survivors include: four children, Charles “Chuck” James Herbert Jr. of Phoenix, Derek (John) Bringhurst of Fairbanks, Alaska, Ronald Wayne (Jade) Fairbanks of Springville, Utah, and Patricia “Patty” Lynn (Matthew) Raymond of Sikeston; her siblings, Darwin Leroy Eddenfield of Sacramento, California, Linda Gale Wilkening of Healdsburg, California, James Ronald Gale of Sand Point, Idaho, David Michael Gale of Sparks, Nevada, and Kathy Lynn Marin of Roseville, California; and 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

No services will be conducted in Missouri. Her ashes will be put to rest at a later date in Phoenix.
