Betty Willis

SIKESTON — Betty J. Willis, age 98, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, at La Bonne Maison in Sikeston, Missouri.

She was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Castlewood, South Dakota, daughter of the late Carl Halvorson and Laura Tollessen.

On Dec. 22, 1943, she married Edwin Willis, who preceded her in death on April 17, 1992.

She was a member of the Hunter Memorial Presbyterian Church in Sikeston and worked as a homemaker.

Betty is survived by one son, Stephen (Jan) Willis of Winter Spring, Florida; one daughter, Barbara (Dennis) Bayer of Festus, Missouri; three grandchildren, Stephanie (David) Rose, Christine (Alex) Buehler and Brent (Tiffany) Bayer; and six great-grandchildren, Lauren Buehler, 19; Andrew Buehler, 16; Caleb Buehler, 14; Anna Rose, 16; Rebecca Rose, 16; and Adalyn Bayer, 14.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, two sisters and one grandchild, Ryan Bayer.

A private graveside service will be held Friday, May 22, 2020, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, under the direction of Ponder Funeral Home of Sikeston.
