Letter: Providing Charleston R-1 students with supplies

Friday, August 21, 2020

Dear Editors:

For the first time ever, there is no school supply list for Charleston R- 1 Schools. All the supplies have been generously bought or donated by our amazing community and partners.

God made a dream come true for Shining Light Outreach Center and me. All I did was raise money, buy and invite to join. The real heroes are our donors: Elm Street Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church, First Methodist Congregation, Shining Light Outreach of Charleston; Res and Anders of St. Charles; Jeff Ivy, Elsberry, Fred and Mary Wieserhan of St. Louis; Reginald Young, Lee and Sally Good, Rick and Debbie Toon of Charleston, Focus Bank, Citizens Bank, Hurley and Associates, Medlin Equipment, Coon Insurance Co., McMikle Funeral Home, L&S Pharmacy and Ivy Villa of Charleston.

This year every student will be able to start school with everything they need to learn and grow. We know there would be severe hardships this year due to the pandemic, and we wanted to lighten the load of parents, students and teachers alike.
