Graham files for Sikeston mayor; Owens, Crowe Sr. file for Ward 2 position

SIKESTON — The first day to file for open Sikeston City Council positions was Tuesday and one person has filed for mayor while two have filed for a position in Ward 2. 

Seats up for election are Mayor Steven Burch, Ward 2 council member Gerald Settles and Ward 3 council member Karen Evans, who have all termed out.

Filing for mayor was John Graham and filing for Ward 2 spots were Pershard Owens and James Crowe, Sr. 

Anyone interested in running for a position on the council must be a qualified voter of Sikeston and at least 21 years of age. Ward candidates must be a resident of the ward for which they are filing for a period of at least one year immediately prior to the last day to file for election. 

Mayoral candidates must have been a resident of the City for at least one year immediately prior to their election. 

A $15 filing fee is required.
