SIKESTON — Melba L. Taylor, age 89, of Sikeston passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 22 at Clearview Nursing Center. She was born Aug. 11, 1931, in Ellington, Missouri, to the late John E. Asberry and the late Margaret Irene (Renie) Woodcock Asberry.

SIKESTON — Melba L. Taylor, age 89, of Sikeston passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 22 at Clearview Nursing Center.

She was born Aug. 11, 1931, in Ellington, Missouri, to the late John E. Asberry and the late Margaret Irene (Renie) Woodcock Asberry.

On July 21, 1966, in Denver, Colorado, she married Douglas Taylor who preceded her in death on May 6, 2006.

Melba was a member of Hunter Memorial Presbyterian Church where she greatly enjoyed being a part of Ladies Circle 5

For many years, she worked for MFA and ran the fertilizer plant in Sikeston. Melba enjoyed many hobbies. She was an avid reader and a wonderful seamstress. She could always catch her limit of crappie, although she never ate them. Her family will fondly remember her cooking the large holiday meals they shared. Melba enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed local trips to Branson as well as trips to Denver, Florida, Hawaii and Mexico. But, her favorite place  to visit was Albuquerque, New Mexico, to spend time with her daughter, Carla.

Melba is survived by her three daughters, Carla Tidwell, Albuquerque, Alicia Buchanan, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Pamela Singer, (Larry) of Meta, Missouri.

She is also survived by six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Melba was preceded in death by five brothers, Lloyd, Floyd, Sylvan, Ervin and Billy; and one sister, Carolyn.

Internment with be with her husband Doug at the Veteran's Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
