Get a clue caller

I want to voice my opinion on the Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, newspaper. The topic is “Election time is here,” (in Speakout). “Republicans win election, Democrats steal elections.” Really? With everything going on in this world in Sikeston, in general, you guys are going to split people up like that and say some derogatory stuff like Democrats steal elections? Get a clue.

Treat people right

To me a good person is someone who cares about people, good and bad. Offense and injury to a person is bad for the victim and perpetrator and bad for the heart and soul of the perpetrator. Let it roll off your back. Speak bad mouth only in an appropriate case, no rumors. Do not be an authoritarian, no change. Treat everyone as the same. Adopt for yourself the attitude a doctor would have — treat them all right.

Caller has traffic concerns

I was wondering if the city could do anything about making a no left turn off of Smith Street into the Food Giant parking lot when there are two entrances and exits off Main Street into that parking lot. People turn there and they don’t realize they’re backing people up in the traffic light. I just wonder if there was anything they could do there and maybe patrol the intersection of Selma and Malone and the intersection by Aldi’s, because people will pass on the right or make a right turn off the shoulder of the road and there is no right turn there. Thank you and have a wonderful day.

We recommend taking your concerns to the traffic committee.

Where’s the card?

What happened to Trump’s $200 card to help pay for prescription drugs? He said it would be in the mail in a couple of weeks. It’s been over a month and I am still looking for it.

Socialism isn’t all bad

My topic is socialism. Republicans hurl the term socialism at Democrats and the Democratic party. They say that Democrats want to introduce socialism. That’s not true. America has a socialistic history. Example, Chrysler Corporation bankruptcy in the mid-1980s. They approached Congress for a loan. Congress approved the loan. Under the leadership of Chrysler chairman Lee Iacocca, the loan was repayed and Chrysler became profitable again and is today. Another example of the American taxpayer bailing out an institution, the banking failure of 2008 or so. Congress bailed out the banking industry. There again it was the right term under those terms. It’s socialism.
