SIKESTON — Shirell True, age 84, passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. SIKESTON — Shirell True, age 84, passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Oct. 6, 1936, in Dorena, Missouri, son of the late Homer Lee True and Margaret Matheny True.

He lived in East Prairie, Missouri for over 47 years before moving to Sikeston. He was a member of Sanctuary of Sikeston, had worked on a family farm in his younger years and was a butcher for Bloemer’s Grocery before retiring. He was an incredibly good dad, having raised four children.

Survivors include: his loving wife of 53 years, Martha True of Sikeston; three daughters, Brenda (Mike) Carter of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Kay (Nathan) Blagg of Bell City, Missouri, and Denice (Brian) Kennedy of Sikeston; one son-in-law, Tim Hall of Jackson, Missouri; one brother, James True of Sikeston; four sisters, Lavern Dunn of East Prairie, Virginia True of Rolla, Missouri, Ann (Dennis) Ferrell of Paducah, Kentucky, and Linda (Dennis) Marshall of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Shirell was preceded in death by one daughter, Sheila Hall; three brothers, Homer Lee True, Sam True, and Joe Bob True; one sister, Minnie Maude; one brother-in-law, Buddy Dunn; and one grandchild, Miracle Kennedy.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 21, from 11 a.m. until time of funeral services at 1 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. Nathan Blagg will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery at Dogwood, Missouri.

Pallbearers will be: Brian Kennedy, Nathan Blagg, Tim Hall, Mike Carter, Elvis Jacobo and R.J. Delgado.
