SEMO Health Network now offering vaccine

The COVID-19 vaccine is becoming more available and several locations will be giving the vaccine in the coming weeks.

SEMO Health Network is now offering the Pfizer vaccine for Phase 1A and 1B, tier 1 and 2 at all locations. The vaccines are offered at no chage and by appointment only. Those interested in receiving the vaccine can call 573-559-2376.

The dates are tentative and subject to change. SEMO Health Network staff will follow up regarding scheduled date and time for vaccination.

Saint Francis Healthcare is also warning patients of a COVID-19 vaccine phone scam.

According to a release, the hospital has received reports of a phone scam where an unidentified caller attempts to schedule a COVID-19 vaccination, provides instructions and asks for a Social Security number to schedule an appointment.

The release states that Saint Francis staff may call to schedule an appointment but will never ask a patient’s complete Social Security number of scheduling.

As of Wednesday, Saint Francis has exhausted its vaccine allocation for the week. An additional 10,000 vaccine doses have been requested for next week, and its website and Facebook page will be updated when the next shipment is received.

The Scott County Health Department reported 13 new positive COVID-19 cases Thursday along with 49 recoveries. The health department also reported the death of a resident in their 60s, making 74 who have died related to the virus.

Currently there are 505 active cases with 3,138 recoveries.

The New Madrid County Health Department reported 27 active cases at the end of the day Wednesday along with 1,955 out of quarantine with 41 deaths.

The Stoddard County Public Health Center is reporting 79 active cases as of Thursday afternoon along with 2,764 recoveries and 61 deaths.
