LILBOURN, Mo. — Ann Naomi “Nanny” Simpson went to her heavenly home on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, surrounded by her family at her earthly home in Lilbourn at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 21 days.

She was born on Aug. 22, 1926, at Higgerson Landing in New Madrid, Missouri, to the late Mattie Alice Boyd Porter and William Addison Porter.

On Nov. 25, 1944, she married the love of her life Loyne Dalton Simpson in New Madrid, and to this union nine children were born: Larry, Bob, Dalton, Marcy, Sandy, Bruce, Brad, Jerry and Joyce. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Joyce Patterson in 1998; and son, Jerry Simpson in 2019; and seven brothers and one sister. She was of the Baptist faith and loved to sew and make quilts for her family and friends. After raising her nine children she spent many years babysitting in her home for numerous families in the local community and all were very special to her.

She was “Nanny” to 23 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; her extended family her caregiver, Minerva Walker, who nicknamed her “Sunshine” and a host of many other relatives and friends.
