Scott County now has the dubious distinction of having the highest number of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 in Missouri but the rate of positive cases is dropping.

According to the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Friday morning, Scott County had 208 confirmed positive COVID cases between Sept. 8-14, a daily average of 30 and 543 per 100,000 residents. There was one confirmed death in that time.

Scott County’s positivity rate during that time was 29.7% which ranks fourth in the state.

While Scott County has the highest number of positive cases per 100,000, there was positive news as the county saw a drop of 13% in cases and a 5.3% drop in positivity rate than the previous week.

The Scott County Health Department last reported 545 active cases in the county.

New Madrid County was fifth in the number of cases per 100,000 with 82 new cases (482 per 100,000) between Sept. 8-14 ranking second in the state in positivity rate during the same time frame at 32.8%. The county saw a 20.4% drop in the number of cases and a 12% drop in positivity rate from the previous week.

The New Madrid County Health Department last reported 130 active cases in the county.

In Mississippi County there were 44 confirmed cases between Sept. 8-14, a drop of 50% while their positivity rate also dropped at 9.7%.
