SIKESTON — Lelus “Stan” Standridge, 89, passed away on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, in his home in Sikeston, surrounded by his family.
He was born June 24, 1932, in Scotland, Arkansas, to the late Dock and Maggie McClain Standridge. Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.
Stan was a member of the Illinois Avenue General Baptist Church in Sikeston for over 50 years, where he served as the choir director. He was the founder of Stan’s Carpet at Sikeston which he owned and operated for many years. After his retirement from the carpet business, Stan also remodeled houses, which kept him busy. He loved to go fishing, spend time with family and watch the Cardinals play ball.
On July 31, 1971, he married Martha White, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are their children, Rick (Ivy) Standridge of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Randy (Debbie) Standridge of Chicago, Illinois; Debbie (Jeff) Leeker of Hillsboro, Missouri; Jeanne Imhoff of McKenzie, Tennessee; Harry Imhoff of Florida and Christina (Dustin) Mattison of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; one brother, Loy Standridge of Arkansas; one sister, Ann Vaughn of Arkansas; 15 grandchildren, Reece, Ethan, Ryan, Kyle, Emily, Amber, Amanda, Michael, Aaron, Nathaniel, Rachel, Danielle, Anna, Zac and Ben; 14 great-grandchildren, Austin, Remington, Sedona, Mason, Elijah, Olivia, Ashli, Nicholas, Abigail, Isaac, Emma, Otto, Benjamin and McCari; and two great-great-grandchildren, Alice and Henry, who is due in December.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two children, Ron Standridge and Brenda Vaughan; and one brother, Carlos Standridge.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2021, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston where funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021, with Larry Rouse officiating.
Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Zac Mattison, Aaron Vaughan, Isaac Vaught, Randy Standridge, Rick Standridge, Nathanial Kincy, Ryan Standridge and Kyle Standridge.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Michael Rister and Ben Mattison.
