SIKESTON — A man faces felony charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle and leading law enforcement on a pursuit Thursday from Sikeston to Bertrand.
According to Capt. Ryan Smith with Sikeston Department of Public Safety, around noon Thursday, a vehicle was reported stolen by its owner at Murray and Kingshighway. About 15 minutes later, an officer with DPS located the vehicle at Gas and Goodies on West Malone Avenue in Sikeston.
“When the officer went up to make contact with the vehicle and the driver, he fled onto Malone which led to a pursuit through Sikeston,” Smith said.
The pursuit continued east out of Sikeston over to Bertrand and Interstate 57 and then 57 West and 57 East before coming back to the Bertrand exit, where the suspect was subsequently stopped and taken into custody, Smith said.
Arrested was 39-year-old Cory Carver of Affton, Missouri. He is being held in the Mississippi County Jail.
Assisting Sikeston DPS at the end of the pursuit were Missouri State Highway Patrol, Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office, Scott County Sheriff’s Office. No injuries or accidents were reported in the incident, and the vehicle was recovered without damage, Smith said.
