New county clerk takes office in New Madrid County

NEW MADRID, Mo. - New Madrid County has its first woman as county clerk.

Amy Brown of New Madrid was sworn into office Monday morning as the new New Madrid county clerk. Brown was appointed to the office by Gov. Mike Parson following the resignation of Clement Cravens.

A graduate of Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor of science degree, Brown most recently served as a district program specialist II with the New Madrid County Soil and Water Conservation District. Previously, she worked as a deputy clerk in the New Madrid County Collector’s office and as deputy clerk for the New Madrid County Clerk’s office.

During her five years working in the county clerk’s office, Brown said she became familiar with the many duties the office entails. She noted she has experience with elections, voter registration and the payment of county bills.

“I am thankful and appreciative of the the governor and the county commission for placing their trust in me,” Brown said after being sworn into office by Associate Judge Josh Underwood. “I look forward to serving the citizens of New Madrid County and the New Madrid County commissioners.”
