PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — Buford W. “Bud” Slaughter was born Nov. 13, 1933, in Troy, Tennessee, to Mae Langley Slaughter and Robert Slaughter. He passed away on Feb. 2, 2022, at Gideon Care Nursing Home at the age of 88 years, two months and 20 days.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Lona Mae Langley Slaughter and Robert Slaughter; and his sister, Judy Coble.
He was united in marriage on Feb. 11, 1967, in Collinsville, Illinois, to Florence Price; she survives of the home.
Bud was a deputy in the local area between the years of 1975 thru 2003. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 55 years, Florence Slaughter of Portageville; his daughter, Brenda Sills of Manhattan, Kansas; one grandson, Adam Sills of Manhattan; one brother, Wayne Slaughter of Portageville; one sister, Pat Lohr of Cabot, Arkansas; two daughters, Donna and Linda and two sons, Mark and Paul; and six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren all living in England; and a host of many others relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at the DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville, where services will conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, with the Rev. Reggie Grant officiating.
Burial with full military rites will be in the Portageville Cemetery.
