In addition to highlighting the New Madrid County Schoo R-1 School Counselors for National School Counselors’ Week Feb. 7-11, New Madrid County School Counselors hosted the annual Counselor Advisory Council Luncheon.

The Advisory Council consisted of community members, parents/caregivers/grandparents, teachers, administrators, school board members and counselors.

The students at NMCR-1 are fortunate to have such dedicated and helpful counselors in every building. The school counselors provide services to the students, support staff and parents and serve as a liaison to outside community agencies.

They assist students in a variety of topics like friendship, transitions, study skills, relationships, career, and decision making.

The strategies the students learn during classroom guidance, small group counseling and/or individual counseling aides them as they face challenges.

The primary goal of the NMCR-1 school counselors is to help all students reach their full potential academically, socially and emotionally and become productive citizens in the community.

The NMCR-1 counselors are Kristila Sprouse, Lilbourn Elementary; Jeff Ross, New Madrid Elementary; Nicole Tucker, Matthews Elementary; Larones Bell, Middle School; and Casey Rost and Dallas Allen, High School.
