NEW MADRID, Mo. - Two of the members of New Madrid County Central High School’s 2021 football team had the opportunity to compete with some of the nation’s top high school players when they took part in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowls in January.
Following their nomination then try-outs in Cincinnati, Ohio, Matt Riley and Ja’Main Golden each added one more football game to their high school senior years. Golden was selected for the North-South Game, which was played in the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium and Riley played at the Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s stadium in the East-West Game.
The All-American Bowls are touted as an opportunity to see some of the best talent in high school football. According to the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl’s website, the games are an opportunity for the players to be seen by college coaches, receive “some quality coaching and generate some excitement for their future fanbases.”
In addition to meeting and playing with some of the top football recruits, Riley and Golden also received coaching from National Football League players, trainers and coaches.
