Lawson introduced as new head of SRC and Economic Development
SIKESTON — Marcie Lawson was introduced as the new president and CEO for the Sikeston Regional Chamber and Economic Development during the Sikeston Regional Chamber meeting on Thursday at the Clinton Building.
“We’re very, very, very excited,” said Heather Couch, chairwoman of the Sikeston Area Economic Development Board when she made the announcement Thursday. “She has a lot of great ideas and we’re excited to implement those ideas and to see what it holds for Sikeston and the local community.”
Lawson, who will be replacing Mike Marshall who is retiring, told those in attendance that she is excited and thanked those who said kind words in person and on social media.
“I start June 1 and Mike retires June 30 so we’ve got some time to overlap a little bit and bring those new ideas to the forefront,” Lawson said.
Lawson has served as executive director of the Sikeston Regional Chamber and Area Economic Development Corporation since 2017. She said that position is open and those interested need to submit their application by June 10.

• Lawson said there will be a Sikeston Young Professionals event from 1:30-3:30 p.m. June 7 at Fox Haven Country Club.
• The annual SRC Golf Tournament will be held July 18 at Fox Haven Country Club.
