Two killed in separate weekend crashes in Pemiscot County

Two women died in separate car crashes over the weekend in Pemiscot County.

Glinda K. Quick, 54, of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, and formerly of Portageville, Missouri, was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Friday, Feb. 3, and Brittany Schubert, 24, of Marston, Missouri, died of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday, Feb. 5, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The first crash occurred at 11:15 a.m. Friday on southbound Interstate 55 at the 22.2 mile-marker, three miles north of Hayti, Missouri, as the southbound vehicle driven by Quick struck the rear of the southbound tractor operated by Elmer L. Gremminer, 48, of Fenton, Missouri, the Patrol said. Quick was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:40 a.m. Friday by Pemiscot County Coroner Brian Irions and taken to the Pemiscot County Morgue.

The second fatal crash occurred at 12:45 a.m. Sunday on Route B at Wardell, Missouri, as the southbound vehicle driven by Schubert traveled off the left side of the road and struck a culvert, according to Patrol. Schubert overcorrected and overturned, ejecting her from the vehicle, the Patrol said. Schumbert was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:30 a.m. Sunday by Irions and transported to a local funeral home.
