Over here in East Prairie, gas went up 13 cents overnight. What’s so funny both places that sell gas over here went up 13 cents. Go down the ride 8 miles to Matthews and gas is $2.91. That’s price gouging, I think. Where is the law at to regulate this stuff? It ain’t no where to be found in these small towns. That’s OK. I drive eight miles and get my gas for $2.91. Thank you.

__Slow down, people__

It’s 8:25 Wednesday morning, raining cats and dogs, northbound 55, about two miles before you get to Scott City. Around Benton, two vehicles passed me driving outrageous. I was driving about 60. Got about four or five miles up the road, van was in the ditch, windshield crashed in. It’s a shame. It’s a shame. Slow down, people. Slow down.

__Signature space issue__

I recently received a new voter identification card issued by the New Madrid County Clerk. At the bottom of the card is a signature line with 1/8-inch space for you to sign your name. Sorry, but I cannot sign my name, or even have a pen capable of signing my name in 1/8-inch height space. Another question I have is: Why was a voter identification card even issued when the only valid voter ID, is a photo ID? Last of all, I wonder if the photo ID requirement will be ruled illegal by the Missouri Supreme Court, same as it has been ruled, unconstitutional, time after time, over the last 12-plus years?

__Church is place for Bible classes__

Bible classes should continue to be taught in church. The church congregation should decide what Bible courses they want taught in their church. But in the public school system, Bible classes are a repetition of what kids can learn in church. In the public school system, our children need reading, math, science, government, history, art, music and job skills training for specific careers. We need to strive for the best educational curriculum we can afford. Our teachers need competitive wages. We need more teachers for after-school or weekend tutoring. We need to enlarge our job skills training program. Our children need to learn how to prepare and succeed inside the workplace of the future.
