Wayne Parker
SIKESTON, Mo. — Wayne Parker, age 87, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023, at his home in Sikeston, Missouri.
He was born on Jan. 9, 1936, in Dogwood, Missouri, to the late John C. and Beulah Parker.
On Dec. 17, 1955, in Matthews, Missouri, he married Elizabeth Winters Parker, who survives of the home.
Wayne was a member of Matthews First Missionary Baptist Church in Matthews. He was a farmer in New Madrid County with his brother for over 60 years. When he wasn’t farming, he could be found with a fishing pole in his hand. He loved sharing his life with his grandkids and great grandkids.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Danny (Tracy) Parker of New Madrid, Missouri; one daughter, Patricia Curry of Union City, Tennessee; one brother, Wade (Beverly) Parker of Sikeston; six grandchildren, Joshua Parker, Jackson Parker, Logan (Jordan) Turner, Danielle Johnson, Beth (Kyle) Bowers and Katie (Matt) Givens; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny Joe Parker and Arlan Parker; one sister, Shirley Kelso; and one grandchild, Rebecca Curry.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, with Bro. Chris Polk, pastor of Matthews First Missionary Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Parker, Steve Parker, Ricky Parker, Chad Parker, David Parker and Gary Kennedy Jr.
