Donnie Scott

CHARLESTON, Mo. — Donnie Ray Scott, age 78, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2023, at his home near Charleston, Missouri. He was born Feb. 2, 1945, in East Prairie, Missouri, to the late Welton Edward Scott and Ovella Mae Stokes Scott. He was a disabled veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War. Donnie was a farmer much of his life, and during his retirement he enjoyed repairing appliances. He spent his spare time fishing and hunting. Most of all, he loved his family.

On Aug. 31, 1967, in East Prairie, he married Marie Denton, who preceded him in death Aug. 19, 2022.

Donnie is survived by two sons, Ray and Pam Scott of Charleston and Todd Scott (fiancé, Stephanie Halveston) of Dogwood, Missouri; two daughters, Tina (Pete) Wimberley of Sikeston, Missouri, and Nika (Teddy) Sisk of East Prairie; one brother, Bennie (Pat) Scott of Glasgow, Kentucky; and one sister, Martha (Billy) Jackson of Glasgow. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.

Donnie was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Sisk, who died July 28, 2022; four brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, at noon in the Shelby Chapel, with Bro. Joe McCullough, pastor of Murray Lane Baptist Church in Sikeston, officiating. The eulogy will be delivered by his sons.

Interment will follow in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Shelby Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, T.J. Scott, Corey Sisk, Scott Wimberley, Welton “Bubby” Scott, and Shane Scott.

Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Brooke Hamblen, Tara Baker and Cambree Scott.
