Students not in danger following ‘threat’ to Sikeston school

SIKESTON — A threat toward Sikeston High School made on social media early Wednesday, Nov. 8 was deemed not dangerous by school and law enforcement officials.

“Sikeston High School administration was made aware of a threat on social media this morning,” a letter from the district’s administrative office to parents said Wednesday morning.

“An immediate investigation including Sikeston Department of Public Safety and the Juvenile Office took place and found that there was no danger to students or staff,” the letter said.

The person who initially made the threat has been identified.

“Sikeston Public Schools takes social media posts seriously and always keeps student safety the No. 1 priority,” district administration said.
