DEXTER, Mo. — Kay Jenkins, daughter of the late Charles Smith and Josie Grayum Smith, was born on Jan. 14, 1950, in Bernie, Missouri, and departed this life on Dec. 19, 2023, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 73 years.

Mrs. Jenkins had worked for Richard’s Gift Wrapping in Dexter and Good Humor Breyer Ice Cream in Sikeston, Missouri. She was a member of First General Baptist Church in Dexter and a resident of Dexter. She enjoyed crafts, making wreaths, reading her bible and spending time with her family.

On June 6, 1970, in Bernie, she was united in marriage to Bob Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins survives of their home in Dexter.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her son, Donald Jenkins and wife Lea of Dexter; her daughter, Sherry Partin and husband Patrick of Dexter; three brothers, Gaylon Smith of Cape Girardeau, Charles Smith Jr. of Sikeston and David Smith of Belleville, Illinois; two sisters, Nancy Dockins of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Shirley Grimes of Cape Girardeau; and her grandson, Nathan Waters.

Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, from noon to 2 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Dec. 23, 2023, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
