New Madrid County students invited to submit art work

NEW MADRID, Mo. - Entries are now being sought for the 2024 New Madrid County Youth Farm Animal Art Show.

Artwork by New Madrid County public, private and home-schooled students in kindergarten through 12th grade must depict a farm animal or farm scene. Entries must be completed and turned in by March 28 to the New Madrid County Extension Office, 330 U.S. Highway 61 in New Madrid.

Judging will take place April 2. Artwork will be displayed at the New Madrid Memorial Library, 431 Mill St. in New Madrid, from April 3-24 with a reception for participants planned for 4 p.m. April 24.

Each student can enter one original artwork in the contest. Media may be oils, watercolor, acrylics, ink or pencil. Only two-dimensional artwork will be accepted and no photography will be accepted.

Entries must be matted on light-weight white or black poster board. Entries must not exceed 18 by 24-inches.

First, second and third place will be awarded for each grade and one piece of art will be named “Best of Show.” Award winners will advance to the Southeast Missouri Regional Show at the Margaret Harwell Art Museum in Poplar Bluff where they will be displayed from April 30-May 2.
