Linda Faye McCoy
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Linda Faye Wood McCoy, 80, of Cape Girardeau returned to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, April 27, 2024, after a valiant and short battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family members and friends and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Faye was born to the late James Herman and Madgeleene Matilda Kinsey Wood in Gideon, Missouri, on April 7, 1944.
She married Lindell Monroe McCoy on Oct. 6, 1960, in Sikeston, Missouri. He preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 1998. She was blessed by two boys, Mark Monroe (Wendy) McCoy from Tucson, Arizona and Jerry Dean (Bonnie) McCoy from Anchorage, Alaska. She is survived by four grandchildren, Daniel (Alexandria) McCoy of Bullhead City, Arizona, Chrystina (Jaron) Hammond of Mountain Home, Idaho, Matthew D. (Ashleighanne) McCoy of Anchorage, Michael McCoy of Anchorage; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was blessed by a large family: five brothers and three sisters. She was preceded in death by two of her brothers, Bobby Lee and Edwin Keith Wood; and one sister, Theresa Gayle Wood, plus a beautiful great-granddaughter, Hanna. She is survived by three brothers, James Freeman (Trish) Wood of Kirksville, Missouri, Dannie Ray (Joan) Wood of Sikeston, Missouri, Aaron Wade (Tina) Wood of Sikeston; two sisters, Brenda (Marion) Pearson of Sikeston and Ramona Jean (Markel) Fitchpatrick of Blodgett, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Marva A. Wood of Buckner, Missouri; and one truly beautiful friend, Betty Lowery of Cape Girardeau.
Faye had many great friends, and her friendships encompassed all aspects of life and each was special to her. From phone call chats to joint outings, to sharing meals and entertaining, to adventures near and far, to helping in times of sadness and difficulties, Faye was up for it all. She was known not just for enjoying her friendships but for being a good friend as well.
Lastly, Faye loved Jesus Christ. She read her bible daily and studied the words of the scriptures. She shared her testimony of the Savior whenever she had the chance. She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Lynwood Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
A celebration of Faye's life will follow at noon at the church with the Rev. Fred Burgard officiating.
There will be a short graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Ford & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
