SIKESTON — Joyce Sue Vaught Crowe, age 75, passed away June 8, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

She was born March 27, 1949, in Paragould, Arkansas, daughter of the late J.C. Vaught and Joyce Athelene Vincent Vaught-Campbell.

On Nov. 27, 1968, she married Randy Crowe at the Clayton Avenue Baptist Church in Sikestonl; he survives of the home.

Joyce received her master’s in education from Southeast Missouri State University. She was then employed by Sikeston Public Schools-Morehouse Elementary for 25 years as a third grade teacher. She dedicated her life to education, even by making sure all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were prepared for school by always reading and singing to them. There is not a way to put into words how important her family was to her. She wanted to spend all her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the most selfless woman who had a servant’s heart and just wanted to make everyone happy. Joyce loved her church and church family at Fellowship Baptist Church of Sikeston. She was known for running the kitchen, planning all church social meals.

Other survivors include one son, Brad Crowe of Sikeston; one daughter, Karen (Jody) Chaney of Sikeston; two brothers, Bill (Sandy) Vaught of Ocala, Florida, and Randy (Karen) Vaught of Mountain Home, Arkansas; one sister, Nelda (Larry) Brawner of Clifton, Tennessee; three grandsons, Tyson (Brittany) Estes of Chaffee, Missouri, Tanner (Brittany) Chaney of Sikeston and Tucker (Chandler) Chaney of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Lily, and Emberlee and two more on the way; and numerous friends, family members, and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Randy’s parents.

There will be a visitation held Tuesday, June 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 12 at 1 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church of Sikeston.

Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Tyson Estes, Tanner Chaney, Tucker Chaney, Jeff Winders, Jason Byrd and Keith Bateman.

Honorary pallbearers are Billy Littleton, Jim Burden and Gerald Oliver.
