SCOTT CITY, Mo. — A Scott City man faces felony drug and stealing charges following an investigation in Scott County.

Christopher L. Klughart of Scott City is charged with felony delivery of controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoid; felony tampering with physical evidence in felony prosecution; felony stealing; and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Tuesday, June 11, officers with the Scott City Police Department recovered a stolen Caterpillar, or CAT, mini excavator from a local address, according to Scott City Police Chief Christopher M. Griggs. The implement was reported stolen from Jefferson County, Missouri, on June 9. Officers received information the implement was parked at a local address that belonged to Klughart, according to Griggs. Officers located the CAT at the address provided and recovered the machine.

On the evening of June 11, officers with the assistance of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at an additional local address of Klughart as a result of a narcotics investigation, Griggs said. During the search, officers recovered documents related to the stolen CAT and also recovered an approximate weight value of over 100 (grams) of narcotics, in liquated form. Drug paraphernalia was also discovered during the search.

Klughart is currently in custody at the Scott County Sheriff’s Office on no bond allowed warrant for the narcotics. He was given a $15,000 cash-only bond for the charge of felony stealing.
