Letter: All-Native American football team

Friday, June 21, 2024

Dear Editor:

I recently ran across an article I researched about six or seven years ago. In fact I done an article close to eight months ago and shared it with the East Prairie Eagle, my hometown where I grew up. I’ll rewrite this subject and go into deeper depths.

Have you ever heard about the All-Native American football team that beat the world champion New York Giants? It happened, yet, you never hear anything about it. In 1927 the Native American football team from the Indian Boarding Schools and the New York Giants played each other and the Native American football team won, 13 to 6. Online, look up “Pro football shocker: Indian team beat world champion New York Giants in 1927.”

My research also said unfortunately there was no documentation of the game which was played the day after Christmas in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, except for the statistics.
