Stephen Klein
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen Blanton Klein of Birmingham, who left us peacefully and surrounded by his loving family on June 30, 2024, at the age of 72.
Steve was born in Sikeston, Missouri, on March 4, 1952. After graduating from Sikeston High School, Steve earned his degree in Industrial Engineering from Georgia Tech in 1974. His professional career was spent in Birmingham, including work at U.S. Steel, Bellsouth, Accenture, and retirement as Senior Technical Director at AT&T.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Maureen and Jean Klein of Sikeston and his nephew, Cullen Klein of Melbourne Beach, Florida.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Antoinette Carnaggio Klein; his loving children, daughter Nicole and son Steve (Paige); and his cherished granddaughter, Penny, all of Birmingham. He also leaves behind his siblings, Jim Klein (Debbie) of Eureka, Montana, Tina Calagaz (Leo) of Mobile, Alabama, Maureen Renner of Ballwin, Missouri, and Dr. Bill Klein (Sharon) of Orlando, Florida; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, 2120 3rd Ave. N., Birmingham, AL, 35203. Visitation at 9 a.m. with Mass beginning at 10 a.m.
Abanks Mortuary and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
