Glenn Hatley

SIKESTON — Glenn Dale Hatley, 79 years of age, passed away on Aug. 29, 2024, at Mercy South Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a beloved father, husband and grandfather (papa) who will be deeply missed by his family, church community and all who knew him.

Glenn was born on Nov. 3, 1944, in Sikeston, where he spent his formative years. He went on to attend Sikeston High School (graduate 1962) and later became a Lineman and Meter Reader at Ameren UE. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication and was very proud to do his part to keep electricity flowing to communities and homes in Southeast Missouri and neighboring states.

In his younger years, Glenn would enjoy watching sports (especially Larry Bird), bow hunting, fishing and camping. Later in life his devotion to the lord and church was displayed nearly everyday as he enjoyed reading the bible and teaching others about faith.

But more than anything, Glenn was a devoted father and husband. He showed with his actions and devotion every day. Anyone who knew Glenn knew his unwavering devotion to Angie and Tara to their lives and happiness. There was only one other person who he shared that type of devotion with. That is his devoted and loyal wife, Janet for more than 59 Years. Rarely would you see Glenn without Janet at his side. He lovingly referred to her as “Jan” over the years. His voice would ring out….Jaaaan. And she was always there for him.

In addition to his family, Glenn had an extended church family: First at Bement Baptist Church and later at Life Church in Sikeston Missouri. He loved the Lord and was equally devoted to his church and faith.

In addition to Janet (wife), Angie, and Tara (Kenny), Glenn is survived by his grandchildren, Kaleb (Cassidy), Haley (Cody), Payton (Mitchell) and Sawyer, Atlas, Kindell; and great-grandkids Will, Asher, and Paxton; and one sister, Sharon (Cecil) Carter.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Atlas Hatley and Maggie Hatley; and one brother, Wayne Hatley.

His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
