SIKESTON — Flora Christine Lambert Miller, 96, was called home in a peaceful sleep Friday, Aug. 30, 2024.

She was the first child born to the late Reno and Flora Mae Hunter Lambert on Dec. 1, 1927, in Birmingham, Alabama.

Christine worked several years at White Castle in St. Louis, Missouri. Upon returning to Sikeston, she worked at the Woolworth Department Store before going to work with JC Penney, where she worked as the catalog supervisor until retirement. After retirement, she worked as a foster grandmother at Southeast Elementary. After her second retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and drinking her special Alabama Sweet Tea.

She was a member of the Shady Acres Church of Christ.

Christine is survived by her two sons, Tom Miller of Sikeston and John (Diann) Miller of Blodgett, Missouri; grandchildren, Theresa Miller of Sikeston, Adam (Ashley) Garner of Savannah, Georgia, Andrew (Leila) Garner of Sikeston, Clay (Liz) Miller of Fairmont, West Virginia, Thomas (Falisha) Miller of Bertrand, Brandon Garner of Benton, Missouri, Trent (Courtney) Miller of Sikeston and Joseph (Sarah) Miller of Pilot Knob, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Landon Miller, Sarah Michelle Giddens, Alissa, Tayden and Tevan Miller, Jackson Garner, Paxton Miller, Logan Garner, Zoey Garner, Sophia, Baylee, Tristan, Delaynie and Jensen Miller; great-great-grandchildren, Damon and Blakeney; two brothers, Danny (Shawnee) Lambert and Kenneth Earl (Betty) Lambert of Sikeston; one sister, Helen Ruth Morphis of Little Rock, Arkansas; two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Lambert of Dupo, Illinois, and Jane Lambert of Benton; one brother-in-law, David Sitzes of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend, Emily Sadler.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest child, Pamela Garner; two sisters, Jean Sitzes and Dorothy Williams; and three brothers, Gary, Billy Max and Dennis Lambert; and one great-grandson, Tyron Miller.

There is no visitation.

Family and friends may assemble at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at the Blodgett Cemetery in Blodgett. Keith Olbricht of Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.
