SIKESTON — Beginning with the Tuesday, Sept. 10 edition, the Standard Democrat will publish Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Currently, the Standard Democrat is published Wednesdays, Fridays and the weekend (dated Saturday/Sunday).

Standard Democrat General Manager DeAnna Nelson said the change in days of publication — while remaining with three issues per week — is being done for a few reasons.

“Since we went to publishing three days a week back in 2017, we left the three publishing/distribution days of Wednesday, Friday and Saturday/Sunday,” Nelson said. “We feel that moving the Wednesday ‘paid and free paper’ to Tuesday, moving Friday to Thursday and the weekend edition to Saturday that every other day will keep our readers more up-to-date with local news, obituaries and advertising.

She continued: “As it stands, our production facility provides various printing jobs in Missouri, Illinois and Arkansas, so this change will also help streamline and improve the capabilities of their presses.”

The Standard Democrat’s website will continue to be updated daily with breaking news in between publishing days, just as it has been in the past.

Nelson said: “We look forward to these changes as we look forward to many more years of providing you — our customers — with local news and sports just as you’ve been accustomed to for over 109 years.”
