SIKESTON — A longtime photographer, basketball standout and state finalist cheer team are the 2024 inductees of the Sikeston Public Schools’ Hall of Fame-Honor Wall.

This year’s Honor Wall inductee is Jackie Calbert, and the Hall of Fame inductees are Trey Jenkins and the 2019 cheer team. The inductees will be recognized at half time of the Sikeston High School Bulldogs football game versus Malden Green Wave Friday, Sept. 20 at Sikeston Public Schools Stadium.

Inductees’ names and teams are featured in the Sikeston Field House, and the inductees also receive a certificate recognizing their outstanding contributions to the Sikeston Bulldogs and Sikeston High School.

The Sikeston Hall of Fame recognizes athletes, coaches and teams who have received state honors or beyond. Honor Wall recognizes individuals and teams for their service and achievement to the district.

Honor Wall

For 52 years — from 1972 to the present — Calbert has been the man behind the camera who has taken photos of Sikeston Public Schools’ elementary classes, sports’ teams, graduations, band/choir/orchestra events and dances.

Calbert, who is also a huge Sikeston Bulldogs fan, walks the football sidelines and the Field House courtside every Friday night, capturing the best plays. For 33 years, Calbert has attended five Sikeston High School dances a year to take student photos — a total of 165 dances.

Hall of Fame

A 2019 Sikeston High graduate, Jenkins had 600 career rebounds, 223 career blocked shots and 1,124 career points. He finished his Bulldog career with a 70% field goal percentage.

Jenkins was named to the 2019 First-Team SEMO All-Conference, First Team All-District and First Team All-State. He was a part of four Bulldog teams that won 104 games and lost only 12, won three district championships and played in two state Final Fours. After graduation, Jenkins played basketball at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, Illinois.

The 2018-2019 Sikeston Cheerleading Team competed against nine other teams to win third-place in the Missouri 3A Large Class division of the Missouri Cheerleading Finals.
