Eight vying for Junior Miss Sikeston title

SIKESTON — Eight freshmen from Sikeston High School will compete for the title of Junior Miss Sikeston at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 during the 80th Annual America Legion Cotton Carnival at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo grounds.

Adalynn “Addie” Anderson, 14-year-old daughter of Jennifer Anderson and Jeremy and Megan Anderson, is a member of the SHS cheerleading team and competition team, Red Peppers and Student Council. History/English are her favorite subjects. In her spare time, she enjoys coaching two all-star cheer teams.

The 14-year-old daughter of Jim Angeletopoulos and Angela Zorbas, Mina Angeletopoulos is a member of the SHS volleyball team and Red Peppers. She lists English and art as her favorite subjects in school. In her spare time, she is active in taekwondo and dance.

Chaney Corlew, who is the 14-year-old daughter of Jeff Corlew and Lindsey Corlew, is active in volleyball, golf, Student Council, Red Peppers and Key Club. English is her favorite subject, and she also ejoys coaching YMCA youth volleyball and the St. Francis Xavier Church youth group.

Lexton Hammontree is the 14-year-old daughter of Emily and Greg Miller and Tre Hammontree. She particates in SHS volleyball and Red Peppers, and she plans to play winter and spring sports. Honors geometry is her favorite subject. Her other hobbies include coaching volleyball, playing travel softball and volleyball, attending church and hanging out with friends.

The 14-year-old daughter of Jeannie and Darren Lingle, Mary Lingle participates in SHS girls tennis. She is also active in Student Council, Red Peppers, Key Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. English, history and art are her favorite subjects.

Callie Riley, 14, is the daughter of Lela and Trey Riley. She is active in FFA and Red Peppers. In her spare time, she enjoys barrel racing, pole bending, going to church, training horses and trail riding. Math is her favorite subject in school.

The 14-year-old daughter of Jeff and Amy Winders, Lauren Winders is active in the SHS marching band, Red Peppers and FFA. She enjoys volunteering at Southeast Missouri Food Bank and the afterschool program, Champions, at her church. She also enjoys theater and playing the piano. English language arts is her favorite subject.

Paci Whitter, 14-year-old daughter of Andrew and Tosha Whitter, is active in Student Council, Red Peppers and cheerleading. In her spare time, she enjoys coaching cheer to young girls at Bootheel Gymnastics. English is her favorite subject in school.
