New Madrid Police seek public’s assistance after a series of pet poisonings

NEW MADRID, Mo. — The New Madrid Police Department is seeking the public’s help following a series of pet poisonings.

In the last several weeks the Department has investigated several reports of pets being poisoned in the area of Davis and Capital streets.

“It is believed that someone is attempting to poison skunks in the area and have killed several neighborhood pets in the process,” the Department reported in a news release posted on social media. “We are taking this matter seriously and the suspect(s) in this case will face felony prosecution.”

The Department urged those having trouble with skunks or other wildlife to contact the city of New Madrid so traps can be placed in the area.
